History of The Rotary Club of Cabarrus County
The Rotary Club of Cabarrus County was founded in 1985 and is 65 members strong. Over the past 20 years we have sponsored AAU basketball tournaments for boys and girls of all ages. These events have been known for their smooth organization and personal touch.
Fueled by the dedication and hard work of our rotarians and the generosity of our local patrons, money earned from these tournaments goes to support numerous worthy causes. We generously support local charities such as Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, the Salvation Army, and many more. We also contribute money for high school student scholarships for further education. Additionally, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and the Cabarrus College of Health Sciences each receive scholarships as well. Internationally, we partner with a rotary club in Alexandria, Romania and we make a donation to the Rotary International Foundation for humanitarian purposes.

Distinguished Rotarians
The Rotary District 7680 Distinguished Rotarian Awards were first awarded during the 1993-94 Rotary year at the District 7680 Conference. Each of the clubs in District 7680 has the opportunity to honor a member of their club for a distinguished tenure as a Rotarian. The award should be presented to a Rotarian who has exemplified "Service Above Self" in his/her daily life as a Rotarian and a member of his/her community.
Each club selects a Distinguished Rotarian from their membership on an annual basis, and submits that name with supporting documentation to the District Governor. The District Governor presents each recipient an appropriate plaque at the District Conference.
