Thank you for this opportunity to serve each of you, the Rotary members of Cabarrus County as President. I am excited about the coming year and all that we will be able to accomplish.
This year’s theme “Reach Within to Embrace Humanity” challenges each of us to “Look within yourselves, to understand that all of humanity has the same dreams, similar hopes, the same aspirations and similar problems.”
The 2011-2012 board of directors and Chairs Drew Fowlie, Lisa Krass, Merl Hamilton, Glenn Hays and Ben Rose are challenging me and the club to take what we have done to the next level by reaching more people throughout the year in the community and beyond through service and projects
New community service projects will be offered in addition to the ones we currently support. The membership committee is hard at work identifying potential new members, to add a net of 12 new members. This can be done with each of our help. Our fundraising efforts have been geared to the Seafood Festival with great success. I do not know what we would have done without Tim Mueller and Trey’s help when the basketball tournament ended. This committee has lofty goals that I am excited about achieving and succeeding. I also hope that our club will take on another fundraiser that will take place in the spring that will allow us to combine fund raising with service.
Rotarians want to make a difference in our community both locally and globally; why else would we be Rotarians? We are eternal optimists, we believe our world can be happier, we believe our world can be healthier, we believe our world can be more peaceful. Our community is better today than yesterday and our world’s future will be better than the past. Our community succeeds through our Rotary service. May our actions over the next year ring loud and clear to future Rotarians.
