August 2007 E- Newsletter Service Above Self
|
Dear Lisa,
The new Rotary year is off and running. I look forward to our club continuing its strong tradition of "Service above Self". As we begin the new Rotary year I would like to challenge each member to be involved with our various service projects and fellowship opportunities. My mom has always told her 4-H club "You get out of 4-H what you put into it", and the same is true with Rotary. I guarantee you that you will find membership in our organization more fulfilling if you are an active participant. So be active and maximize your investment! Service opportunities abound with the soon to begin 2nd year of the Lunch Buddy Program (see Chair Brenda Cline's challenge below), and Dick McMillan would love to get you involved with the ongoing Meals on Wheels project. Also details about a new service project: the Alzheimer's Memory Walk will soon be forth coming. Enjoy the rest of your summer and remember our theme "Rotary Shares". -President Philip McAuley |

Take Me Out to the Ballgame! Join fellow Rotarians and their families for a social at the Kannapolis Intimidators game vs. the Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox affiliate) on Saturday, Aug. 25th. An awesome fireworks display will follow the game...the last of the season.
Rotarian Tim Mueller has graciously offered rotarians a discounted $8 ticket for all who wish to attend and that includes a pre-game picnic starting at 6 pm with hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and more, as well as a reserved seat ticket for the game. Game-time is 7 pm. There will be a sign up sheet at next week's meeting and you will be billed for the tickets on your next Rotary statement. Don't miss this opportunity to mingle with Rotarians over an evening of great local entertainment. |

Online Makeup Try doing an online makeup. We have recently added more information about online makeups to the website. You can utilize an online makeup 2 times in any rotary calendar year. This is a great way to help our club meet its attendance goals and help you as a Rotarian gain a new perspective on what an e-club is all about. To learn more about e-clubs and online makeups, go to our Meeting Makeups page. |
